The Canteen: A Civil War Novel With (Trevor Tipton)

In this episode of American Civil War & UK History, host Daz was joined by author Trevor Tipton to discuss his new book titled *The Canteen: A Civil War Novel*, which is set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. Inspired by an authentic Civil War rifle that has been passed down in the Tipton family, *The Canteen* draws on historical events, folklore, and the author’s imagination.

Growing up in Indiana, Trevor Tipton developed a love for local history. He spent forty-three years as a classroom teacher and storyteller, making history engaging for his students, as well as for his own children and grandchildren. In his free time, he collects Native American artifacts, particularly those from northeast Indiana. Trevor also shares his knowledge of Native American history and local battles within his community. *The Canteen* represents Tipton's first endeavor to transform his storytelling passion into a published work.
